Do my snow crab legs have barnacles?
Most frozen snow crab legs I buy (several brands from Sams club and local groceries) have clusters of black oval spots the size of sesame seeds. What are they? I might think seasoning like celery seeds or something, except the ingredients never say anything but snow crab legs. I’m pretty sure here in the US they’d have to say if they put anything else in there.
I spend way too much time washing and scrubbing the legs before cooking, and would love it if anyone can confirm and convince me that it’s standard procedure to season legs during processing, and that the Spices just don’t need to be included in the ingredients.
On the other hand, if they’re barnacles I’m done eating crab legs. Anyone?
Okay, maybe not barnacles, but any parasite? Also, these are the frozen crab legs that come in boxes in the frozen food section, so there’s nobody knowledgable to ask in that department.
sounds like barnacles if they’re 3D. but they may not be aask the guy working behind the counter to make sure. you shouldn’t stop eating them b/c of barnacles they don’t alter the taste, just look bad!
